The Beautiful Ms. Julie

This wonderful woman is one of our many success stories.  She came to us in August 2014 with severe back and sciatic pain with the goal of avoiding surgery and returning to her normal lifestyle. We are proud to say that before the end of 2014 she has returned to a very active job completely pain free and without surgery.  She is a great example of what Vighetti & Associates Sports Physical Therapy attentive services and a patient’s hard work can do!  So happy for you Ms. Julie!

ANNUAL CHECKUPS

What does an annual checkup entail?

The annual checkups are comprehensive examinations of an individual’s well-being.  We look at your history, disease risk profile, standard physical exam and physical performance exam.  Based on the information collected we complete an evaluation of the summary of your health and come up with a personal wellness plan and exercise prescription.  There are potentially some follow-up appointments depending on your needs, but we do provide you with the information and resources to allow you to take a hold of your health.  We are here for you if you have any questions or concerns but otherwise we plan on seeing you a year later for your next annual checkup!

You may be asking yourself, why an annual physical therapist checkup?

It is very common in this day and age, for an individual to be dealing with chronic medical conditions, lifestyle behaviors and disability.  For instance, 49% of our population have risk factors for heart disease, 30 million have diabetes, only 20% actually meet the exercise guidelines and 21.4% of our population is unfortunately on disability. We screen all areas of health beyond that of the typical primary care physician and if something is out of our scope of practice for example, hearing, psychological or speech we will refer our patients to the appropriate healthcare providers.  Ultimately, we want to help in providing quality care to individuals and help them take control of their health.

STRENGTH & CONDITIONING

Current individuals participating in strength and conditioning include those who want to:

  • Lose Weight

  • Improve their athletic durability for a particular sport

  • Improve their overall fitness

  • Have guidance in how to change or optimize their workout

  • Prevent future injury

  • Decrease risk of osteoporosis

The benefit of having a program designed by Steve and/or Megann is that they are not only strength coaches, but also licensed physical therapists. They possess extensive knowledge regarding the human anatomy and physiology, as well as the impact that various types of exercise has on the body.  In addition,  they are superiorly qualified on how to tailor your exercise programs based on your particular limitations or past ailments to help you further progress in your recovery and return to your previous quality of life.
